New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu recently revealed a fascinating invitation, meticulously crafted by artisans from the North Eastern states, for the guests attending the 'At Home' event on the occasion of the 77th Republic Day.

In a brief video shared on her social media account, President Murmu stated: "Here's a look at the uniquely designed 'At Home' invitation sent from the President of India to the esteemed guests for the 77th Republic Day. This year's invitation kit celebrates the vibrant traditions of India's North Eastern Region, serving as a tribute to the talented artisans and craftspeople of the Ashtalakshmi states."

The invitation kit features a box made from a woven bamboo mat sourced from Tripura, containing a wall-hanging-style, panelled invite that showcases the traditional artistry of all eight North Eastern states.

The decorative designs on the cover and the invitation box are inspired by the Assamese manuscript painting style.

The fabric panel’s motifs depict the diverse flora and fauna of the North Eastern region. Additional highlights include woven nettle fabric and embroidery from Sikkim, green bamboo weave from Meghalaya, Mon Shugu Paper from Arunachal Pradesh, Gogona—a bamboo jaw harp from Assam—along with bamboo jewellery from Tripura, orange wild rhea, stinging nettle fabric from Nagaland, handwoven Puan Chei from Mizoram, Longpi Black Pottery from Manipur, and an Eri Silk stole.
