The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, stated that NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava conducted a thorough inspection of the Malda-New Jalpaiguri section, focusing on tracks, signals, stations, loco shed, and other vital infrastructure.
During his visit to New Jalpaiguri (NJP), the General Manager assessed the ongoing station upgrade initiatives. The CPRO emphasized that NJP is being transformed into a top-tier station and international terminus, complete with modern amenities, advanced platforms, and enhanced passenger services.
General Manager Shrivastava also reviewed redevelopment projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to create an efficient and future-ready travel hub that ensures an exceptional experience for all passengers.
He undertook a detailed examination of the Malda Town Loco Shed, evaluating maintenance protocols, safety standards, and overall operational readiness. He praised the dedicated efforts of the staff in maintaining reliable and safe locomotive operations, underscoring the robust safety culture prevalent throughout the zone.
Additionally, Shrivastava performed a meticulous window trailing inspection from Malda Town to New Jalpaiguri (NJP), during which he assessed the condition of tracks, signaling systems, passenger amenities, and infrastructure preparedness along the route.
He stressed the necessity of adhering to safety protocols and modern operational standards to guarantee smooth and secure train operations.
Throughout the visit, Shrivastava evaluated the progress of projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at both Samsi and Dalkhola stations. In Samsi, he inspected the level crossing gates to ensure their safe and efficient operation. At Dalkhola, he reviewed redevelopment efforts aimed at modernizing station facilities, enhancing passenger movement, and improving overall travel comfort.
Shrivastava commended the commitment and professionalism of railway personnel in upholding the highest safety and operational standards. The General Manager was joined by senior officials from the NFR headquarters in Maligaon (near Guwahati) as well as divisional officials. The NFR operates across the Northeastern states and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of Bihar.
