Florida, March 22 (NationPress) In recent negotiations held in the US state of Florida, Ukrainian and US delegations engaged in discussions regarding pivotal issues and the subsequent steps needed to resolve the Ukraine crisis, as stated by Rustem Umerov, the secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council.
"We continued to discuss key issues and the next steps in our negotiation agenda. Special emphasis was placed on aligning our strategies to achieve tangible results," he remarked, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
Umerov was accompanied by notable officials including David Arakhamia, leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction; Kyrylo Budanov, head of the presidential office; and Sergiy Kyslytsya, the first deputy head of the presidential office, according to a report by Xinhua.
The US delegation featured presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump, White House Senior Advisor Josh Gruenbaum, and State Department Senior Policy Advisor Chris Curran.
Umerov indicated that a report detailing the outcomes from the first day's discussions was submitted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
In a video address on Saturday, Zelensky mentioned that the Ukrainian and US teams would proceed with their discussions on Sunday, highlighting a crucial topic concerning Russia's readiness to work towards a genuine resolution of the crisis, as stated on the official website of the Ukrainian president.
Witkoff shared on social media platform X that the meetings between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Florida were constructive, focusing on addressing and resolving outstanding issues to progress towards a comprehensive peace agreement.
"We appreciate the ongoing efforts to tackle the remaining challenges, recognizing its significance for global stability," he expressed.
On Friday, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia would not be taking part in the discussions scheduled for Saturday.
Prior to this, delegations from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia had conducted two rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24 and February 4-5, followed by another session in Geneva on February 17-18.
