Washington, April 7 (NationPress) The mission to rescue fighter pilots showcased the military superiority of the United States, with senior officials declaring it a clear demonstration of unparalleled capability and sending a warning to potential adversaries about America’s extensive reach.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that the operation illustrated why the US possesses "the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen."

“In two remarkable combat search and rescue missions conducted deep within enemy territory in Iran, our personnel executed operations with breathtaking skill, bravery, and precision,” he informed reporters during a White House briefing.

This operation was a response to the downing of an F-15 fighter jet over Iranian territory. Two crew members ejected and found themselves trapped behind enemy lines, but both were subsequently rescued during separate missions.

Officials reported that the operations required synchronized strikes, intelligence assistance, and special forces operating under considerable enemy fire.

“These are not standard missions… they are high-risk, high-stakes operations carried out in the heart of enemy territory,” Hegseth emphasized.

He added that US forces maintained operations over Iran for several hours without interception.

“We operated for seven hours in daylight over Iran… and the Iranian forces did not respond,” he stated.

Military officials described the intense combat scenario during the rescue, noting that aircraft sustained damage from enemy fire, yet crews persevered with their mission.

General Dan Caine noted that forces engaged enemy fighters while safeguarding the rescue teams.

“They were actively suppressing and engaging the enemy in a close-quarters gunfight,” he remarked.

One aircraft was struck and later abandoned, but the pilot successfully ejected and was rescued.

Fortunately, all personnel returned safely, with Hegseth confirming, “No American lives were lost.”

The entire mission spanned over 50 hours and involved aerial support, drones, refueling aircraft, and rescue units working in perfect coordination.

Hegseth asserted that this operation conveyed a strong message to adversaries.

“The Iranians are likely still questioning how the Americans accomplished this,” he said.

He further stated that US forces remain prepared to act globally.

“The United States military is ready to deploy anywhere, at any time, to safeguard our personnel and fulfill our objectives,” he stated.

President Donald Trump also referred to the mission as historic, highlighting it as a testament to the strength of US military power.

Officials indicated that this operation occurred amidst ongoing US military action and escalating tensions with Iran. Washington has intensified military pressure while advocating for a negotiated solution.

The US has historically depended on rapid-response and special operations forces for personnel recovery in conflict zones, though such missions are infrequent due to their inherent risks.
