Washington, April 5 (NationPress) The United States successfully carried out a complex rescue operation to retrieve a second crew member from a fighter jet downed in Iran, as announced by President Donald Trump, who characterized the mission as one of the most audacious search-and-rescue efforts in modern military history.

“WE GOT HIM!” Trump declared on Truth Social early Sunday morning, confirming that the missing airman had been saved after extensive operations deep within Iranian borders.

U.S. forces “located and evacuated the missing weapons systems officer who was downed over Iran,” as reported by Fox News, citing senior officials and sources familiar with the operation.

The airman had been missing since Friday, when an F-15E fighter jet was shot down during a combat mission. Both crew members ejected, with one pilot rescued previously, prompting a significant effort to recover the second officer stranded behind enemy lines.

Trump noted that the rescued officer had been “behind enemy lines in the perilous mountains of Iran, being pursued by our adversaries,” but is “now SAFE and SOUND.” He added that while the airman “sustained injuries, he will recover well.”

As per U.S. officials quoted by various media, the operation involved numerous aircraft and special operations personnel navigating through hostile territory. The Washington Post described the mission as “high risk,” with rescue aircraft operating over rugged terrain while Iranian forces and militias advanced toward the crash site.

The Pentagon has not disclosed all operational details, but officials confirmed that all personnel involved in the rescue have successfully exited Iranian airspace.

In a related event, two U.S. Special Operations aircraft were destroyed on the ground during the mission after they became unusable, according to a source familiar with the operation.

This rescue marked the second successful retrieval in just two days. Trump mentioned that an earlier operation had saved another pilot, but details were withheld at the time to avoid compromising the ongoing mission.

The F-15E Strike Eagle involved in this incident is a two-seat combat aircraft designed for both air-to-ground and air-to-air missions. Both crew members — a pilot and a weapons systems officer — are specially trained to operate in high-risk combat scenarios.
