New Delhi, May 1 (NationPress) - In a recent telephonic discussion, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam that occurred on April 22, according to an official statement.
During this crucial dialogue, the United States conveyed its heartfelt condolences regarding the Pahalgam incident, while India reiterated its stance that Pakistan continues to support, train, and fund terrorist activities.
As per the Ministry of Defence, Secretary Hegseth reached out to Singh on Thursday.
Expressing his sympathies, the US Secretary of Defense condemned the loss of innocent lives in the recent barbaric attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
Singh informed Hegseth that Pakistan has a longstanding history of endorsing and financing terrorist organizations.
“Pakistan has been identified as a rogue state, exacerbating global terrorism and undermining regional stability. The international community must not ignore the reality of terrorism,” Singh emphasized.
The Defence Minister urged the global community to clearly and firmly denounce such atrocious acts of terrorism.
The Ministry of Defence also reported that the US Secretary of Defense guaranteed the unwavering support of the US government in India's ongoing battle against terrorism. The US stands united with India, endorsing its right to self-defense, stated Hegseth.
On April 22, terrorists opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily Indian tourists, along with one Nepali national.
The assailants reportedly inquired about the identities of the tourists before opening fire.
In response to the incident, the Indian Army has initiated a comprehensive operation against terrorism in the area.
Additionally, Pakistan has engaged in firing along the Line of Control (LoC). On the night of April 30 and May 1, Pakistani military positions opened fire across the LoC in Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir, without any provocation.
The Pakistani army utilized small arms in this aggression.
According to reports, the Indian Army responded aptly to the provocations.
