Dehradun, Oct 13 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami declared a unique two-day Assembly session to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the hill state.
“This marks our Silver Jubilee year. Throughout the last 25 years, our state has experienced numerous challenges and triumphs. Since its inception, there has been a lengthy journey of development. We have decided to hold a two-day special session in the Assembly to discuss these matters, with dates to be announced shortly,” he stated.
Uttarakhand was formed on November 9, 2000, as the 27th state of India, created from northern Uttar Pradesh. Initially referred to as Uttaranchal, it was officially renamed Uttarakhand in 2007.
The decision to establish this new hill state followed decades of persistent activism and protests by the local populace, who felt overlooked by the government in Lucknow and sought a separate state to maintain their unique cultural identity and address specific developmental challenges related to the mountainous landscape.
Earlier, CM Dhami emphasized the BJP-led state government’s commitment to youth and employment generation. “The youth and students of our state have always been our top priority. Over the last four years, our administration has transparently provided over 25,000 jobs.”
Speaking with the media, he mentioned, “Our youth have secured employment and achieved success in various exams. Recently, a complaint was lodged regarding an exam center, prompting the formation of a committee to investigate. Following the committee’s findings, action was taken, and the exam was annulled.”
Assuring a strict approach towards attempts to manipulate recruitment exams, he stated, “Our aim will be to conduct this exam once more in a completely transparent manner, ensuring no room for errors. We will closely monitor the entire process.”
Earlier, during an event, he also emphasized the initiatives taken to enhance health services.
“Our government is relentlessly working with the determination to provide superior health facilities to the residents of the state. In this regard, 207 types of pathological tests have now been made entirely free in government hospitals. Our goal is for every citizen to receive timely and accurate testing and quality treatment, ensuring that no one is deprived of care due to financial constraints,” he added.
Addressing an event in Srinagar, Pauri Gadwal, to commemorate the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC)- 2025, the Chief Minister noted that the clientele of cooperative banks has tripled under the BJP administration, with total deposits in these institutions soaring to Rs 16,000 crore.
He also pointed out that the government has increased the MSP of Mandwa grain, a locally cultivated finger millet, from Rs 42.90 per kg to Rs 48.86 per kg to benefit farmer cooperatives.
