Dehradun, Nov 3 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu delivered an important speech during a special session of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, commemorating the state’s 25th anniversary. Uttarakhand was officially established as a separate entity from Uttar Pradesh on November 9, 2000.

In her address, President Murmu highlighted the Legislative Assembly as a crucial component of the parliamentary system, emphasizing that legislators are vital connectors between the public and the government. She called on lawmakers to prioritize the development of the state while ensuring the protection of its natural resources.

Describing legislators as the essential bridge between governance and the citizenry, she encouraged them to be proactive in addressing public issues and to focus on the welfare of the people, underscoring the importance of maintaining a strong bond and trust in all situations.

Offering guidance to the legislators, she stated that true public service demands unwavering commitment, transcending party affiliations.

President Murmu urged lawmakers to be particularly sensitive to the needs of the underprivileged communities.

She also commended the Uttarakhand government for successfully implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), fulfilling a longstanding commitment of the ruling BJP, in alignment with constitutional values.

Expressing her satisfaction, she noted that over 550 bills have been approved in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, including significant legislation such as the Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill and the Anti-Copying Bill. She praised the MLAs for their efforts towards transparency, ethics, and social justice.

President Murmu stated, “Uttarakhand is endowed with unmatched natural beauty and resources. The state should advance in development while safeguarding these natural treasures.”

She acknowledged the achievements of successive Uttarakhand administrations in reaching numerous milestones.

“The state has made significant advancements in environmental protection, energy, tourism, healthcare, and education. Progress has also been made in terms of digital and physical connectivity and infrastructure development. Thanks to these comprehensive efforts, Uttarakhand has seen improvements in various human development indices,” she remarked.

Furthermore, President Murmu noted that the youth of Uttarakhand have demonstrated remarkable dedication to serving the Indian Army and defending the nation. She recognized the substantial contributions of many public representatives from Uttarakhand in reinforcing the country’s democratic values.
