Chennai, June 30 (NationPress) In an effort to dispel the rumors surrounding the much-anticipated sequel to Vada Chennai, renowned director Vetrimaran has announced that his upcoming film will star Simbu, clarifying that it is not Vada Chennai 2, as speculated by various media outlets.
However, he noted that this new narrative will still be entwined in the universe of Vada Chennai.
During an interview on his YouTube channel, Vetrimaran stated, "My next film will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and will showcase Simbu in the lead role. The writing for Vaadi Vaasal is taking longer than expected. To ensure the safety of both the artists and animals involved, we decided to take additional time. Since we couldn't delay any further, Thanu sir recommended that I meet with Simbu, and within a few hours, everything was finalized."
Addressing the ongoing speculation that this film is in fact Vada Chennai 2, Vetrimaran clarified, "There has been a lot of chatter about whether this will be Vada Chennai 2. I want to put that to rest. This is definitely not Vada Chennai 2. What Dhanush stars in will be Vada Chennai 2. Nevertheless, this new story will be set in the same universe as Vada Chennai, which means certain elements of that world will be present in this new film. The timeline will also align closely with that of Vada Chennai.
For those who might not know, Vetrimaran's original Vada Chennai, which features Dhanush in the lead, is planned as a trilogy.
The first installment was praised for its captivating storytelling and innovative approach, raising expectations for the subsequent two films.
Insiders have suggested that the second installment will actually serve as a prequel titled Rajan Vagaira, focusing on the life of Rajan, a significant character portrayed by director Ameer in the original Vada Chennai. Actor Ken Karunas, who played Dhanush's son in the critically acclaimed hit Asuran, will portray the young Rajan in Rajan Vagaira.
