Agartala, Nov 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, asserted on Friday that numerous individuals in the state continue to harbor a “communist mentality”, alleging that incidents of violence, arson, and terrorism have been imported from the CPI-M.
Previously serving as the state BJP President, CM Saha emphasized that his party rejects any form of politics rooted in terrorism.
These comments were made during his visit to the homes of BJP workers who were victims of violence inflicted by members of the BJP ally, the Tipra Motha Party (TMP), at the TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council) headquarters located in Khumulwng.
Following his examination of the residences affected by violence, CM Saha remarked that wherever communist governance has existed, whether it be in Tripura, West Bengal, or Kerala, the remnants of their rule can still be observed.
“Currently, apart from Kerala, they are not in power in the other two states. Yet, their culture persists within many parties. The BJP and our administration are dedicated to serving the public. The nature of violence, including arson and terrorism, has been adopted from CPI-M. We categorically reject this type of politics,” the Chief Minister declared.
As the head of the Home Department, CM Saha indicated that law enforcement will act against all offenders.
“The law will execute its duty. I maintain that there is still time for us to move beyond this. We have witnessed similar situations in West Bengal,” he stated.
CM Saha further noted that discussing Kerala is not productive.
“Many parties, numerous locations, and countless individuals continue to possess a communist mindset. I urge the populace to overcome this mentality. Nothing can be imposed or established. The people will not accept it under any circumstances. We are observing all of this,” he commented.
In his address to the media, CM Saha mentioned his visit to Khumulwng and the home of an affected family.
“A woman from the household was severely abused, and their possessions were plundered. Jewelry and cash were taken, and everything, including the refrigerator, was vandalized,” he reported.
“Prior to this incident, a party office was also demolished and set ablaze. This is intolerable under any circumstances. Therefore, necessary actions will be taken in the days ahead,” he added.
CM Saha acknowledged that recent discussions had facilitated a reduction in tensions between BJP and TMP leadership, yet stressed that acts of violence are “unacceptable and undesirable”.
In recent weeks, the Chief Minister has conducted two consecutive closed-door meetings with TMP Supremo Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, addressing various issues, including ongoing conflicts between the BJP and the tribal-centric party (TMP).
During his visit, CM Saha was accompanied by BJP's state General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, local mandal presidents, and other party leaders.
