Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 7 (NationPress) Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has taken a strong stand against the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress on Saturday concerning the ongoing dispute over the venue change for the 9th International Santal Conference, which was attended by President Droupadi Murmu as the chief guest.
He emphasized that the office of the President, representing the highest constitutional authority in our Republic, deserves to be treated with the utmost dignity, protocol, and respect—something that was clearly undermined in West Bengal on Saturday.
“The lapse in arrangements that occurred today in West Bengal concerning her constitutional status is regrettable. The integrity of the Hon’ble President's office must always be upheld, and due respect should be extended to the nation’s highest authority,” the Vice President stated in a message on X.
Previously, Union Home Minister Amit Shah remarked on social media that the Trinamool Congress Government in West Bengal has reached a new low in its chaotic behavior by showing disrespect towards the President of India, demonstrating a blatant disregard for protocol.
Prime Minister Modi also addressed the issue on social media, asserting that the mishandling of the President’s program has deeply offended those who value democratic principles and advocate for the empowerment of tribal communities.
PM Modi attributed the controversy directly to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, asserting that the state administration was accountable for the disrespect shown towards the President.
The West Bengal government, under Trinamool Congress leadership, has faced fierce criticism from various sectors of society due to the incidents surrounding the President’s program.
In response, both Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary Abhisek Banerjee have released statements on social media, denying the allegations against them.
