New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) The 'Waves 2025' event this year saw participation from over 90 countries, attracting more than 10,000 delegates, 1,000 creators, over 300 companies, and more than 350 startups, culminating in a footfall of approximately 1 lakh attendees. This gathering spanned various sectors including broadcasting, infotainment, AVGC-XR, films, and digital media, as announced by the government on Wednesday.

This year, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting implemented several key initiatives aimed at bolstering India’s media and entertainment landscape.

At the forefront was 'WAVES 2025', the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi articulated that WAVES represents not merely an event but a wave of culture, creativity, and global connectivity.

PM Modi further underscored India’s mission of “Create in India, Create for the World,” warmly inviting global investors and youth to immerse themselves in India’s vibrant creative ecosystem.

The ministry noted that CreatoSphere serves as an immersive innovation hub, placing creators at the forefront and transforming ideas into tangible experiences across various domains such as film, VFX, VR, animation, gaming, comics, music, broadcasting, and digital media.

This initiative gathered prominent creative talents from India and around the globe, promoting collaboration, innovation, and the international showcasing of skills.

Season-I featured 33 categories, drew over 1 lakh entries from across India and more than 60 countries, and showcased over 750 finalists across eight creative zones at WAVES, thereby establishing India’s largest creator-led challenge platform, as stated by the ministry.

The season concluded with over 150 creators being honored by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the WAVES Creator Awards, emphasizing the government’s commitment to nurturing India’s creative economy.

Significantly, ‘WaveX’ aims to support and engage over 200 startups, enhancing the innovation and startup ecosystem. This initiative allowed more than 30 startups to pitch to global industry leaders such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Lumikai, while nearly 100 startups showcased solutions through exhibition booths.
