Zeenat Aman Urges Goa's CM Pramod Sawant to Combat Ecological Crisis

Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) Renowned actress Zeenat Aman has earnestly called upon the Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, to urgently address the rampant ecological devastation occurring in the region.
This plea was sparked by her experience witnessing the hatching of Olive Ridley turtles on one of Goa's beaches.
Describing her profound experience on social media, Zeenat Aman shared, "The sand felt cool beneath my feet, and a small group had gathered to witness one of nature's serene miracles - the mass emergence of Olive Ridley turtles. Just weeks prior, countless female turtles had come ashore, digging nests to lay their eggs. Now, as the moon rose above the ocean, those eggs were finally hatching."
Assistance in this miraculous event was provided by the Goa forest department.
"Driven by instinct, these tiny hatchlings are instinctively programmed to head towards the sea. With some support from their caretakers, they began their perilous journey. I have learned that only about 1 in 1000 of these hatchlings will reach adulthood. Surviving adults will have to navigate trawlers, pollution, beach erosion, and diminishing ecosystems... These little ones are mere minutes old, already in a fight for survival," added the veteran actress.
Zeenat Aman expressed her vulnerability in feeling such deep emotion over the birth of turtles while human suffering persists.
"Is it inconsequential to mourn the challenges faced by baby turtles when innocent children are subjected to violence by those intoxicated by power? I believe not. By acknowledging our innate connection to the natural world and the empathy it fosters, we can preserve the 'humanity' that appears to be fading from our societies," she remarked.
She urged the Chief Minister to recognize the serious ecological degradation in the area, stating, "It is heartbreaking to discover that Goa's waters—rivers and seas—are now so polluted with waste that they are unsafe for swimming or fishing."
"This is an urgent appeal to CM @drpramodpsawant to prioritize the ecological crisis in Goa. If not, we risk losing paradise," she concluded.
