New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) Legendary actress Zeenat Aman believes that India's storytelling practices have significantly neglected the pressing issue of the climate crisis, even as the threats to our planet become more severe.

Referring to climate consciousness as an exceedingly important topic, Zeenat, who is the narrator of an engaging 10-part documentary series titled “Embers of Hope: The Fight for Our Future” on Discovery channels, stated that this crisis has been overlooked for far too long.

When asked about the portrayal of the environment in the narratives of India throughout the years, Zeenat shared exclusively with IANS: “I regret to say that the subjects of climate, our planet, and the Earth have largely been ignored.”

“This is why a documentary like this is so crucial. It's essential because, as I mentioned earlier, it's not that people lack empathy... it's that people are uninformed. Once they are informed, they tend to show compassion, especially the youth.”

Zeenat Aman is firm in her belief that the younger generation has the ambition and capability to spearhead environmental initiatives, but often lacks the necessary direction.

“Our youth are eager to take action to protect and preserve the planet. They can truly lead the way. However, they need guidance. There must be some form of mentorship.”

The seasoned actress asserts that documentaries like “Embers of Hope: The Fight for Our Future” are vital as they offer accessible and trustworthy information.

“That's why I believe this documentary holds immense importance; it equips them with the knowledge to act. The future of our planet doesn't belong to someone like me... it belongs to young individuals like you. They must safeguard it for future generations. This topic is extremely significant, and the larger picture must be considered. Failing to do so could lead to catastrophic outcomes.”

When asked about what hope signifies to her in light of climate change and environmental issues, Zeenat remarked: “We are genuinely on the verge of catastrophe. However, we can take measures to assist our planet.

If we unite and work towards it, all the various aspects I mentioned in this documentary—be it our oceans, forests, soil, air, pollution, or overpopulation—can be addressed. That is the Ember of Hope.”

Shot across more than 60 locations, each episode delves into significant themes, covering everything from global warming and waste management to population balance, water conservation, and biodiversity loss. This series is produced by Warner Bros. Discovery.
