NCW finds zero POSH compliance at TCS Nashik unit, cites harassment and coercion
The National Commission for Women (NCW) fact-finding team has uncovered sweeping lapses and irregularities in the functioning of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) committee at Tata Consultancy Services' (TCS) Nashik unit, revealing how women employees were allegedly sexually harassed, mentally tortured, and coerced into religious conversion by male colleagues — with the company's internal mechanisms remaining effectively non-functional.
Key Findings of the NCW Probe
The four-member NCW fact-finding committee, which conducted an on-site investigation into complaints of persecution and religious coercion at the TCS Nashik facility, documented a series of statutory violations that left panel members appalled. The commission's two-page report states that the Internal Committee (IC) for POSH compliance was shared between the Pune and Nashik offices — a direct contravention of the POSH Act, which mandates a separate committee for each workplace.
The NCW found that not a single IC member had ever visited or inspected the Nashik unit for POSH Act compliance. There were no placards, boards, or posters displaying the mandate of POSH, and no board listing IC members or their contact details was visible on the premises.
According to the commission's report,
