Mumbai, Jan 13 (NationPress) A significant 97% of HR leaders within India’s tech sector anticipate that by 2027, human workers will collaborate closely with AI systems, rather than just utilizing them sporadically, according to a report released on Tuesday.
The study conducted by Nasscom and Indeed, which surveyed over 120 HR professionals in the tech industry, revealed that between 20% to 40% of tasks in technology companies are already powered by AI.
Approximately 45% of those surveyed indicated that more than 40% of software development is currently managed by AI.
“With the deepening integration of AI, focusing on skill development and capability enhancement will be crucial for enabling talent to ascend within the value chain and achieve significant results for businesses,” stated Ketaki Karnik, Head of Research at Nasscom.
The findings illustrate a transition from viewing AI as a supplementary tool to recognizing it as a vital component of daily operations, workflows, and decision-making, with notable involvement in intelligent automation (39%) and business process management (37%).
However, over half of the participants reported issues with low-quality or incomplete AI outputs, emphasizing the necessity for human supervision.
Effective collaborations between humans and AI are increasingly being seen in complex tasks such as scope definition, system architecture, and data model design.
In the coming two to three years, it is expected that more routine tasks, including boilerplate code generation and unit test creation, will be automated by AI, as stated in the report.
The hiring process is shifting towards a skills-focused assessment, with 85% of managers prioritizing skills over formal qualifications and an impressive 98% highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary and hybrid skills.
About 83% of HR leaders have restructured work environments to incorporate AI-specific roles.
Regarding AI implementation, 79% of respondents identified internal reskilling as a primary strategy.
Furthermore, 80% of organizations are adopting a hybrid model, with the majority of employees working from the office three or more days each week, as mentioned in the report.
