Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 11 (NationPress) An aircraft belonging to Air India Express encountered a technical malfunction after its arrival at Phuket International Airport on Wednesday, resulting in a temporary halt of flight operations at the airport.
The airline reported that its flight from Hyderabad to Phuket experienced an issue with the nose wheel shortly after landing in Thailand.
The flight, designated as IX 938, took off from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and was en route to Phuket.
In an official statement, Air India Express verified that the aircraft faced difficulties with the nose wheel upon its arrival at Phuket Airport on March 11.
The nose wheel is a crucial component of an aircraft's landing gear system, enabling the plane to maneuver and steer while on the ground.
“We confirm that our flight from Hyderabad to Phuket on March 11 encountered a nose wheel issue at Phuket Airport,” stated the airline.
“Our crew adhered to all standard protocols, and passengers were safely deplaned. We express our gratitude to our passengers, the Phuket airport authorities, and all involved for their cooperation,” commented an Air India Express spokesperson.
According to Flightradar24, the flight departed from Hyderabad at 6:42 a.m., slightly delayed from its scheduled time of 6:20 a.m., and landed safely at Phuket International Airport at 11:40 a.m. local time.
Reports indicated that flight operations at the airport were temporarily suspended due to the incident, as the aircraft remained on the runway.
Authorities paused other flights as a precautionary measure until the situation was resolved.
The airline confirmed that the crew followed all safety procedures, and all passengers were safely deplaned once the aircraft came to a stop.
The number of passengers aboard the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft was not immediately disclosed.
In a previous incident last December, an Air India Express flight operating between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam was canceled after the pilot identified a technical issue prior to departure.
