Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) India is rapidly evolving in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI), and experts assert that this technology will be instrumental in realizing the nation's aspiration of becoming a developed country by 2047. In a conversation with IANS regarding the recently held ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ in the capital, Binay Kumar Singh, Director of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, emphasized that by the time India marks its centenary of independence in 2047, AI will be a pivotal component in shaping the future of the nation.
He also highlighted the government's initiatives to combat Naxalism, indicating that a deadline of March 31 has been established and the ongoing surrenders by Naxal members signal positive progress.
Singh expressed strong disapproval of the protests conducted by Youth Congress members during the summit, stating, “This event was meant to highlight the nation's advancements and should not have devolved into a political arena.”
He cautioned that such demonstrations could tarnish India's reputation on the global stage and mentioned that Rahul Gandhi should have vocally condemned these actions.
“Gandhi ought to have confronted these inappropriate protests within his party instead of seemingly endorsing them,” Singh remarked.
“When discussing development, technology is essential. We cannot overlook modern technology, particularly AI. The summit exemplified that India is progressing in line with advanced, innovative, and future-oriented technologies,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, Professor Diwan Singh Rawat, Vice-Chancellor of Kumaun University in Nainital, also spoke to IANS and characterized the summit as a significant global AI event. He noted, “Representatives from over 100 nations and key figures from the tech industry attended the event.”
“India's contributions to AI have gained international recognition, and the summit marked a vital and successful endeavor by the Indian Government,” Rawat concluded.
