Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 16 (NationPress) IT Secretary S. Krishnan informed IANS on Monday that India must embrace the surge of artificial intelligence (AI) to establish a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, coinciding with the launch of the highly anticipated ‘AI Impact Summit’ in the capital city.
He noted that extensive preparations have been made over the past year to ensure the AI Summit is a significant success.
“Last February, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attendance at the AI Action Summit in France, he declared that this year’s summit would be hosted in India. Preparations began immediately after, involving extensive outreach to numerous institutions and organizations to facilitate various sessions, alongside a large-scale AI Expo,” Krishnan shared with IANS on the summit's sidelines.
To date, over 250,000 individuals have registered to participate in the AI Impact Summit. Leaders from more than 20 nations and ministers from over 40 countries are attending the conference. The summit features more than 100 international delegations, over 100 CEOs, and nearly 500 academics and social sector experts, with a total of 460 parallel sessions organized.
Krishnan emphasized that to realize the vision of a 'developed India' by 2047, harnessing the AI wave is imperative.
“It is crucial that this technology serves the nation’s interests,” he added.
During a session, Krishnan urged that AI should not be approached with apprehension but with the recognition that it can transform the future for children.
“We need to devise a governance structure that protects our children and the nation from any potential adverse effects. While exercising caution, we must also ensure that children are afforded ample opportunities to leverage the benefits of AI in shaping their lives and the future of our world,” the IT Secretary remarked.
