New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) The upcoming ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, scheduled for next month, has garnered an extraordinary response from around the globe, positioning itself as the largest AI summit ever held globally, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT official, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Vaishnaw revealed that prominent IT firms have created over 200 specialized, sector-specific AI models, which are set to be unveiled during the summit.
He added that investments nearing $70 billion are currently being funneled into the AI infrastructure sector, with expectations to double by the summit's conclusion. Additionally, efforts to boost AI talent development will include extending AI infrastructure and industry-approved curricula to 500 universities, thereby generating a robust talent pipeline for the industry.
The minister highlighted the recent engagements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with industry leaders, developers, and innovators along the AI value chain, including models, applications, and infrastructure, indicating systematic progress in India's AI ecosystem and a strong emphasis on deployment-focused solutions.
India is gearing up to host the first global AI summit in the Global South from February 16–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, stated that the primary goal of the India AI Impact Summit is to promote the democratization of technology, especially artificial intelligence, to ensure its advantages benefit a diverse segment of society.
He emphasized that as the inaugural global AI summit held in the Global South, the event aims to align strategies for AI governance and standards to cultivate a shared global understanding of the safe and responsible implementation of AI in practical applications.
The week of the summit will include over 500 curated events across Bharat Mandapam and Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, facilitating simultaneous leader-level discussions, exhibitions, and outcome-oriented sessions.
The AI Impact Expo will feature more than 840 exhibitors, including Country Pavilions, Ministries, State Governments, Industries, Startups, and Research Institutions, showcasing AI solutions that demonstrate tangible real-world effects. IndiaAI will also showcase advancements in India's foundational AI models.
