New Delhi, Feb 6 (NationPress) The government announced on Friday that a research symposium titled ‘AI and its Impact’ is set to take place this month as part of the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026'. The event has garnered significant interest, receiving over 250 submissions from both national and international research communities.

Scheduled for February 18 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the event will feature 30 selected posters under the Global South Poster Track, 15 from the India Forum Showcase, and 15 under the Students Showcase, according to the ministry.
The symposium will primarily include Plenary Keynotes, research dialogues, International Research panels, and a Global South Research & Posters Showcase. The Plenary Sessions will present insightful keynotes, fireside chats, and discussions with eminent researchers from India and around the globe, focusing on the transformative capabilities of AI, theoretical foundations, practical applications, and societal repercussions.
International Research Panels will feature concise, focused presentations by leading global researchers, emphasizing innovative AI breakthroughs. This segment will facilitate the sharing of cutting-edge methodologies, novel algorithms, and pioneering applications from top institutions worldwide.
During the Global South Research and Posters Showcase, there will be an engaging display of research posters by students and collaborative teams from the Global South. This segment aims to celebrate emerging talent, encourage mentorship opportunities, and highlight innovative solutions to both regional and global issues.
“The Symposium is anticipated to result in clear, actionable outcomes, fostering enhanced collaboration between research institutions and policymakers, and promoting responsible AI adoption,” stated the ministry.
Conceived as an interdisciplinary forum, this symposium will gather leading researchers and practitioners from India, the Global South, and the wider international community, presenting cutting-edge work on the impact of AI, exchanging methods and evidence, and fostering collaborations.
