New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) E-commerce giant Amazon and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have once again strengthened their collaboration to assist small enterprises in India in broadening their presence in international markets via e-commerce, aiming to enhance exports.
This partnership, which enhances their initial agreement from November 2023, will concentrate on equipping Indian MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) with essential skills and resources necessary for thriving in online export activities.
As part of this initiative, Amazon and DGFT will conduct specialized training sessions across 47 districts nationwide. They will also incorporate Amazon’s Export Navigator tool into DGFT’s Trade Connect portal to simplify the exporting process for businesses.
Moreover, new export communities will be established as local offline networks where MSMEs can connect with industry experts, government entities, and successful exporters.
These export communities will be designed to be easily accessible for businesses that are currently engaged in e-commerce or those that are considering starting, as stated by Amazon.
The objective is to develop a support system that provides small businesses with the necessary guidance to enhance their export capabilities.
The initiative will also include workshops, networking opportunities, and actionable advice on product selection and the expansion of export operations.
By merging Amazon’s global e-commerce expertise with DGFT’s local insights, the program aims to unlock new opportunities for Indian businesses in the global marketplace.
“This collaboration has already benefitted over 3,000 MSMEs, and we anticipate it will play a significant role in boosting India’s export growth,” remarked Santosh Sarangi, Additional Secretary and Director General of DGFT.
In the first year of their collaboration, DGFT and Amazon organized a series of events promoting e-commerce exports across 20 districts in India.
These events, conducted between December 2023 and December 2024, provided valuable insights to over 3,000 MSMEs regarding e-commerce exports and the procedures for selling on Amazon's global marketplaces.
