New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) - The prominent e-commerce platform Amazon and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have once again joined forces to assist small enterprises in India in broadening their presence in international markets via e-commerce, targeting a remarkable $80 billion in exports from the nation.

This renewed partnership builds upon their prior agreement from November 2023, emphasizing the need to equip Indian MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) with essential skills and resources for succeeding in online export operations.

To facilitate this initiative, Amazon and DGFT plan to conduct specialized training sessions across 47 districts nationwide. Furthermore, they will incorporate Amazon's Export Navigator tool into DGFT’s Trade Connect portal, simplifying the export process for businesses.

Additionally, new export communities will be established as local offline networks, enabling MSMEs to engage with industry experts, government bodies, and successful exporters.

“These export communities will be easily accessible for businesses that are already engaged in e-commerce or those contemplating a start,” stated Amazon in a press release.

The initiative intends to create a support system where small enterprises can obtain the guidance required to enhance their export capabilities.

Workshops, networking events, and practical advice on product selection and expanding export activities will also be part of the initiative.

By merging Amazon’s global e-commerce expertise with DGFT’s local insights, the program aspires to unlock new opportunities for Indian businesses in international markets.

“This collaboration has already benefitted over 3,000 MSMEs, and we anticipate it will significantly bolster India’s export growth,” remarked Santosh Sarangi, Additional Secretary and Director General of DGFT.

During the inaugural year of their partnership, DGFT and Amazon hosted a series of events promoting e-commerce exports across 20 districts in India.

These events, conducted between December 2023 and December 2024, offered guidance to over 3,000 MSMEs regarding e-commerce exports and the procedure for selling on Amazon's global marketplaces.
