New Delhi, Aug 19 (NationPress) In a remarkable achievement, Apple has experienced a substantial increase in its iPhone exports from India, surging nearly 63 percent to $7.5 billion during the April-July timeframe of this year, compared to $4.6 billion in the same period last fiscal year (FY25), according to the latest industry data.
Overall, smartphone exports in India also reached a new record of $10 billion in the first four months of this fiscal year, marking a 52 percent rise from $6.4 billion in the corresponding period of FY25.
In the first quarter of FY26, India’s smartphone export growth peaked in the April-June period, with shipments hitting $7.72 billion, a 58 percent increase from $4.9 billion a year earlier. In this quarter alone, Apple exported $6 billion worth of iPhones through its contract manufacturers, reflecting an impressive 82 percent growth compared to the previous year, as per industry estimates.
Additionally, Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics giant and a major supplier for Apple, has initiated production of the iPhone 17 at its newly established factory in Bengaluru. This facility is significant as it stands as Foxconn’s second-largest iPhone manufacturing site outside of China, with an investment of approximately $2.8 billion (around Rs 25,000 crore).
Apple is heavily investing in India as a manufacturing hub, aiming to ramp up iPhone production to 60 million units this year, in contrast to 35-40 million units in 2024-25. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, Apple manufactured 60 percent more iPhones in India, valued at an estimated $22 billion.
Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized India’s increasing significance in the global supply chain of the company. Following the financial results announcement on July 31, he pointed out that most iPhones sold in the US in June 2025 were produced in India.
Moreover, in a significant boost to the 'Make in India' initiative, India's electronics production soared from $31 billion to $133 billion over the decade starting from 2014-15.
The electronics exports witnessed a remarkable growth of more than 47 percent in Q1 of 2025-26 compared to the same quarter in 2024-25.
