Apple's Chipset Deliveries Surge to 18% Worldwide in Q3

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) The technology powerhouse Apple experienced a notable rise in its chipset deliveries, reaching 18 percent globally in Q3 of this year, compared to 13 percent in Q2 2024, primarily due to the rollout of its A18 chipset.

As per a report from Counterpoint Research, the tech giant based in Cupertino, California, has recently unveiled two new chipsets – the A18 and A18 Pro.

The base models of the iPhone 16 are equipped with the A18, while the iPhone 16 Pro models feature the A18 Pro. The A18 Pro offers unparalleled efficiency, with its new 16-core Neural Engine being faster and more effective than its predecessor, delivering exceptional on-device performance for Apple Intelligence.

In comparison, MediaTek's overall chipset shipments saw a slight rise to 36 percent in Q3 2024, up from 34 percent in Q2.

The report indicated, “5G shipments remained stable while LTE chipset deliveries increased. Premium-tier shipments are anticipated to rise due to the early launch of the Dimensity 9400.”

Meanwhile, Qualcomm's shipments dropped to 26 percent in Q3 2024 from 30 percent in Q2, attributed to seasonal fluctuations.

The report further highlighted, “Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Fold 6 series are expected to boost the momentum for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 shipments. Qualcomm has also rolled out the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which has already secured design partnerships with several OEMs.”

Samsung's Exynos saw a modest increase in shipments in Q3 2024 with the launch of the Galaxy S24 FE featuring the Exynos 2400.

Additionally, shipments of the Exynos 1480 and Exynos 1380 have grown due to robust shipment volumes of the Galaxy A55 and A35.

Another player, UNISOC, experienced a decline in shipments in Q3 2024.

The report noted, “UNISOC continues to capture market share in the low-tier segments (priced under $99) driven by its LTE offerings. Moreover, UNISOC has launched a new chipset – T620 – in Q4, which has already secured design wins with itel for the SS25 and SS25 Ultra.”
