New Delhi, Nov 1 (NationPress) Major automakers such as Kia India, Skoda Auto India, Nissan Motor India, and Mahindra's Trucks and Buses reported impressive sales figures for October, fueled by strong festive purchasing linked to GST reforms.
Kia India achieved its highest monthly sales ever in October, with 29,556 units sold since its debut in the Indian market.
Experiencing a significant 30 percent year-on-year growth over the 22,735 units sold in October 2024, this remarkable feat highlights Kia's solid and ongoing success in India's competitive automotive sector, as stated by the company.
Skoda recorded sales of 8,252 units in October, marking its best monthly performance to date. Meanwhile, Nissan Motor announced consolidated sales of 9,675 units, reflecting a remarkable 45 percent month-on-month increase. Mahindra and Mahindra reported overall sales, including exports in the Trucks and Buses segment, totaling 2,034 units.
From January to October, Skoda sold 61,607 cars, reaching an unprecedented annual sales peak in just ten months. This surge was propelled by the demand for Skoda's inaugural sub-4m SUV, the Kylaq, alongside steady interest in the Kodiaq, Kushaq, and Slavia.
Nissan Motor highlighted that its performance mirrored a robust festive demand for the New Nissan Magnite during Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali, enhanced by the positive effects of the GST rate reduction implemented by the Indian Government.
Domestic wholesale figures reached 2,402 units, buoyed by the strong demand for the New Nissan Magnite, while exports soared to 7,273 units, reinforcing Nissan India's stature as a global export hub. Recently, the company celebrated the export of its 1.2 millionth vehicle, fortifying its “Make in India, Make for the World” initiative.
Mahindra & Mahindra experienced a 14 percent year-on-year increase in overall sales, including exports in the Trucks and Buses sector, reaching 2,034 units compared to 1,791 units in the same month last year. Mahindra's Trucks & Buses business encompasses the Mahindra Trucks & Buses division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited (SML).
The adjustments from GST 2.0 repositioned small cars and two-wheelers up to 350 cc into an 18 percent slab and instituted a 40 percent flat rate for larger vehicles, eliminating the prior separate compensation cess. This reform has made vehicles more accessible, resulting in price reductions for small cars and large SUVs, leading to a surge in sales and inquiries, particularly during the festive season.
