New Delhi, Nov 2 (NationPress) India’s passenger vehicle (PV) sector has recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in October 2025, fueled by the recent GST rate adjustments and a surge in festive season demand, as announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday.
Wholesales of PVs in the domestic market increased by 17.23 percent year-on-year (YoY), reaching 470,227 units in October 2025, compared to 401,105 units in the same month of the previous year.
“The PV sector in India has achieved unprecedented volumes in October, driven by the GST rate adjustments and strong festive demand, with numerous automakers recording their highest-ever monthly wholesales,” FM Sitharaman shared via a post on social media platform X.
This achievement signifies the best monthly performance for the Indian automotive market, eclipsing the prior record of 405,522 units set in January 2025.
“These figures represent the best domestic monthly volumes, exceeding the previous record of 405,522 units from January 2025,” the Finance Minister elaborated.
Analysts indicate that the reduced GST rates and appealing festive promotions spurred consumers to purchase vehicles, enabling many manufacturers to achieve their highest monthly sales.
This trend reflects a robust consumer sentiment and increasing confidence in the economy.
Additionally, major automotive companies such as Kia India, Skoda Auto India, Nissan Motor India, and Mahindra's Trucks and Buses reported impressive sales figures in October, propelled by strong festive buying influenced by GST reforms.
According to data released on Saturday, Kia India recorded its best monthly sales performance in October, achieving 29,556 units since its entry into the Indian market.
Data indicates that Skoda sold 8,252 units in October, marking its highest monthly sales to date.
Nissan Motor followed with consolidated sales of 9,675 units, showing a 45 percent month-on-month growth, while Mahindra and Mahindra also reported overall sales, including exports in its Trucks and Buses sector, reaching 2,034 units.
