Mumbai, Oct 1 (NationPress) Mahindra and Mahindra Limited (M&M Limited), a leading automobile manufacturer in India, announced on Wednesday that it achieved a total of 100,298 vehicle sales in September, marking a 16 percent increase from the same month last year.
During the Navratri festive period, the company experienced a remarkable increase in customer interest, with SUV retail sales soaring by more than 60 percent and commercial vehicle sales climbing over 70 percent in the initial nine days of the celebration.
In the utility vehicle sector, Mahindra reported 56,233 units sold in the domestic market, reflecting a 10 percent rise compared to the previous year, while total utility vehicle sales, including exports, reached 58,714 units.
The domestic commercial vehicle sales amounted to 26,728 units, translating to an 18 percent growth.
Nevertheless, the company indicated that the billing figures for SUVs in September were somewhat affected by a shortage of trailers during the last ten days of the month.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, the CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, commented on the performance, stating that the impressive growth was fueled by GST 2.0 and the pent-up demand leading up to the festive season.
“In September, we achieved SUV sales of 56,233 units, representing a growth of 10 percent, and overall vehicle sales of 100,298 units, which is a 16 percent increase compared to the same month last year,” he explained.
“Thanks to strong festive demand, we saw over 60 percent growth in SUV retails and over 70 percent growth in commercial vehicle retails during the first nine days of Navratri compared to last year,” he added.
On the export front, Mahindra exported 4,320 vehicles in September, achieving a 43 percent increase year-on-year.
In the three-wheeler category, including electric models, the company sold 13,017 units in the domestic market, showing a growth of 30 percent.
