Mumbai, Feb 1 (NationPress) - Indian automotive giant Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced that its total auto sales, including exports, reached 1,04,309 vehicles in January 2026, reflecting a remarkable 24% year-on-year increase.
SUV sales domestically soared to 63,510 units, marking a 25% growth, while sales of commercial vehicles also rose to 27,656 units, up 22%, according to a company statement.
Exports for January totaled 3,577 vehicles, which is a 5% increase year-on-year. Cumulatively, year-to-date exports for FY26 up to January reached 33,638 vehicles, a rise of 23%.
The company reported a strong year-to-date performance across various segments, with utility vehicles seeing a 19% increase in passenger vehicle sales in FY26 YTD, while sales of three-wheelers experienced an impressive 28% growth.
Building on the momentum from the previous year, Mahindra kicked off January on a high note with exceptional SUV and total passenger vehicle sales, stated Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division.
On January 14, bookings for XUV7XO and XEV 9S commenced, resulting in 93,689 bookings valued at Rs. 20,500 Crore within just four hours—a record milestone.
Three-wheeler sales, including electric models, jumped 28% year-on-year in January to 9,566 units, while year-to-date sales for FY26 rose to 92,012 units.
Sales in the light commercial vehicle segment, specifically within the 2-ton to 3.5-tonne range, increased by 23% to 23,647 units during January, according to the report.
Mahindra & Mahindra concluded December 2025 with record numbers in both SUVs and light commercial vehicles, having sold 50,946 SUVs domestically, which translates to a 23% growth. Total vehicle sales, inclusive of exports, reached 86,090 units, marking a 25% year-on-year increase.
Commercial vehicle sales also exhibited robust growth, benefiting from ongoing demand in the LCV segment. Mahindra emphasized that the strong close of 2025 demonstrates increasing consumer confidence and the effectiveness of its SUV-led strategy.
