The establishment of the Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL) has contributed to this growth, showcasing enhanced global outreach and the growing international demand for India’s traditional medicine and herbal products, according to the Commerce Ministry.
AYUSHEXCIL celebrated its 4th Establishment Anniversary today in New Delhi, reflecting India’s commitment to promoting the exports of traditional medicine and wellness products.
Since its inception, AYUSHEXCIL has implemented numerous initiatives aimed at building the capacity of exporters, streamlining export procedures, ensuring regulatory compliance, and organizing B2B meetings, international exhibitions, seminars, and outreach programs in crucial overseas markets.
The ministry further noted that India’s traditional medicine systems (AYUSH) have gained formal recognition in various bilateral trade agreements, including the India-Oman CEPA and the India–New Zealand FTA, which feature dedicated sections on health-related services and traditional medicine.
AYUSHEXCIL has been designated to lead the Ayush Quality Mark initiative of the Ministry of Ayush, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2nd WHO Summit on Traditional Medicine (December 17–19, 2025), representing a vital step toward enhancing quality assurance and global recognition of AYUSH products.
As AYUSHEXCIL embarks on its fifth year, the Council is set to further strengthen international collaborations, capitalize on opportunities through Free Trade Agreements, promote quality and certification standards, and boost global acceptance of India’s traditional medicine systems.
This anniversary highlights India’s expanding influence in the global AYUSH and wellness economy, in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
The Council operates in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, with assistance from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to supervise exports of products and services linked to Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, Homeopathy, and other traditional Indian healthcare systems.
