New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, remarked on Wednesday that India's global influence is growing, emphasizing its pivotal role in the evolving world order.

"India's global influence is on the rise—enhanced by the EU–India free trade agreement. In my discussion with Narendra Modi, we delved into the changing global dynamics and the impact of new technologies on democracy. I commended India's efforts to reduce Russian fossil fuel imports, thereby escalating pressure to halt aggression against Ukraine," Karis shared on X following his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

During their bilateral talks, both leaders reaffirmed the India–Estonia partnership and explored innovative avenues for collaboration in technology, trade, and global issues.

Karis arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the India-AI Impact Summit. He received a warm welcome at the airport from Raksha Khadse, the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed their warm welcome to the Estonian President via X, stating, “This visit will significantly bolster the enduring ties between India and Estonia.”

Karis also addressed two prestigious events organized by Estonia in New Delhi alongside UNICEF and the Netherlands, which centered on the application of AI in education and the economy.

He pointed out that Estonia has been pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence in education. "It is crucial to recognize that AI will revolutionize learning and education. It is not merely about technology, but about the people—teachers and students—who will drive this change," stated the Estonian leader.

The AI Impact Summit is recognized as one of the most significant international forums on AI, with over 15,000 attendees anticipated. This summit follows last year's AI Summit in Paris and marks the first time a country from the Global South has organized such a large-scale event, bringing regional insights to the global conversation. The summit focuses on inclusive, responsible, and socially impactful AI while enhancing international collaboration in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

As India takes center stage in hosting the AI Impact Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the event aims to unite the world to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence. He invited global leaders, industry pioneers, innovators, policymakers, researchers, and tech enthusiasts to join the summit.

On social media platform X, PM Modi expressed, “Bringing the world together to discuss AI! Today marks the beginning of the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. I extend a warm welcome to leaders, industry experts, innovators, policymakers, researchers, and tech enthusiasts from all corners of the world. The summit's theme is Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya, focusing on welfare and happiness for all, signifying our collective commitment to leverage AI for human-centric advancement."

He noted that AI is transforming various sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and governance.

"Today, AI is revolutionizing numerous sectors, such as healthcare, education, agriculture, governance, and enterprise. The AI Impact Summit will enrich global discussions on various facets of AI, including innovation, collaboration, and ethical usage. I am optimistic that the outcomes of the summit will help shape a future that is progressive, innovative, and filled with opportunities," PM Modi added.

Earlier in February 2025, Estonian President Alar Karis highlighted India's significant role on the global stage during his discussion with Prime Minister Modi at the Artificial Intelligence Summit in Paris.

In their inaugural meeting, the two leaders explored bilateral cooperation in cybersecurity and exchanged views on international conflicts.

They emphasized that the amicable relations between India and Estonia are grounded in their mutual dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and the values of freedom and pluralism.
