New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) Prominent leaders from Sweden, Finland, and the United Kingdom have landed in New Delhi to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026 taking place in the capital.
Finland's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Sweden's Deputy PM and Minister of Energy, Business, and Industry Ebba Busch arrived in the city early Wednesday, while UK Deputy PM David Lammy touched down late Tuesday.
In a warm gesture, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed Swedish Deputy PM, stating on social media platform X, "India–Sweden relations encompass extensive cooperation in trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action, and education, among other fields."
Additionally, the MEA expressed its delight in welcoming Finland's leader, saying, "A heartfelt welcome to Prime Minister Petteri Orpo upon his arrival for the India-AI Impact Summit. He was warmly greeted at the airport by Minister of State for Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Singh."
"This visit will significantly strengthen our diverse bilateral partnership, emphasizing digital and AI, sustainability, and education sectors," the Ministry further noted.
UK Deputy PM David Lammy also received an enthusiastic welcome in New Delhi.
"His visit will enhance the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a strong emphasis on trusted, inclusive, and responsible Artificial Intelligence as a catalyst for innovation, growth, and mutual prosperity," the MEA elaborated.
Numerous global leaders are anticipated to arrive later today to join the ongoing five-day Summit.
The India-AI Impact Summit aspires to explore the transformative capabilities of AI, aligning with the national vision of 'Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya' (welfare for all, happiness for all) and the global ethos of AI for Humanity.
The Summit features participation from over 110 countries and 30 international organizations, including approximately 20 heads of state/government and around 45 ministers.
This event marks the fourth in a series of AI summits previously held at UK Bletchley Park in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025.
