New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman convened a meeting on Saturday aimed at the simplification of procedures, ensuring regulatory predictability, enhancing coordinated inter-departmental operations, facilitating efficient fund flows, and developing a future-ready tax administration. The discussions also emphasized pathways for sustained growth and the application of digital tools to promote transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
Sitharaman, alongside Minister of State for Corporate Affairs, Harsh Malhotra, led the Chintan Shivir, which brought together the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs at Hampi in Vijayanagara district, Karnataka.
In attendance were all Secretaries from both ministries, the Chairpersons of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), as well as the Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India, along with senior officers from relevant departments.
During a session titled “AI, Ease of Doing Business & Financing for Viksit Bharat,” the focus was on enhancing institutional capacity and policymaking by utilizing artificial intelligence, technology-driven systems, and process reforms to boost the Ease of Doing Business.
Sitharaman also acknowledged the historical importance of the Vijayanagara region, highlighting its significance as one of the most exceptional Indian empires at its zenith nearly 500 years ago, with legacies still evident across vast areas of the subcontinent.
She pointed out the juxtaposition of magnificent monuments against drought-affected regions within the same district, which suffer from low agricultural productivity and human-animal conflict, stressing the necessity of being aware of contemporary developmental challenges.
Earlier that day, she inaugurated a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to establish five Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and robotics labs in Karnataka’s government schools.
The Minister introduced Cyient AI Labs (CyAILS) -- ‘VijAIpatha’, a CSR-led national project aimed at democratizing access to Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and robotics education in government schools located in Hosapete Taluka of Hampi, Karnataka.
