Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 1 (NationPress) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday unveiled three 'Kartavyas' (duties) aimed at not only accelerating the economy but also empowering the poor, underprivileged, and disadvantaged members of society.
Sitharaman emphasized that to fulfill the government's 'sankalp' (resolve), and given that this is the inaugural budget crafted in Kartavya Bhavan, "we are motivated by three Kartavyas".
She stated, "The first Kartavya is to enhance and sustain economic growth by boosting productivity and competitiveness while fostering resilience against unpredictable global dynamics. The second Kartavya is to meet the aspirations of our citizens and empower them, making them key stakeholders in India's journey towards prosperity."
"Our third Kartavya, aligned with our vision of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas', is to guarantee that every family, community, region, and sector has access to essential resources," she added.
She further remarked that the 'Reform Express' is on track and will keep its momentum to help us fulfill our responsibilities.
The Finance Minister suggested interventions in six critical areas: boosting manufacturing in several key and emerging sectors; revitalizing traditional industries; establishing champion MSMEs; providing a significant push for infrastructure; ensuring long-term security and stability; and developing urban economic regions.
“Innovative technologies are reshaping production methodologies while significantly increasing the demand for water, energy, and vital minerals. India will continue to make bold strides towards Viksit Bharat by achieving a balance between ambition and inclusion," she stated.
Additionally, Sitharaman is the first female Finance Minister in the nation to present the Budget in Parliament for the ninth successive time. This budget is anticipated to focus heavily on capital expenditure, particularly in sectors considered strategically vital due to existing geopolitical pressures.
