New Delhi, Nov 10 (NationPress) Over 1,760 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India are evolving from mere back-office operations into key players in enterprise transformation, according to a recent report by Nasscom. These centres employ approximately 1.9 million professionals and serve as the digital backbone for nearly half of the Fortune 500 companies.

According to the report, almost 70% of newly established GCCs in Asia are opting for India, motivated by its rich talent pool and the increasingly robust ecosystem of deep-tech capabilities, partnerships with service providers, and design-oriented thinking. This report was developed in collaboration with Oliver Wyman and R Systems.

“The GCC model is undergoing a transformative phase, necessitating strong partnerships and swift actions to utilize these centres as principal engines for innovation, resilience, and enterprise value. The next decade of global digital advancement for India will hinge on partnership models developed here, wherein GCCs and service providers collaboratively shape how businesses evolve, innovate, and compete,” the report indicated.

The findings highlight a new operational framework for Next-Gen GCCs, grounded in strategic alliances between company headquarters, GCCs, and technology service providers.

This integrated ecosystem involves partners co-creating, managing, and expanding capabilities. Adaptable models such as Build-Operate-Transfer/Manage (B-O-X), Joint Ventures, Modern Talent Augmentation, and Co-Innovation Partnerships are revolutionizing how businesses expedite transformation at an accelerated pace.

This shift mirrors a worldwide change in enterprise expectations: GCCs are now expected to manage innovation pipelines, influence P&L outcomes, and generate independent value that aligns with the rapid pace of AI-driven disruption.

To adeptly maneuver through this changing landscape, the report presents five essential components for success: a unified enterprise vision, operational excellence, resilient governance, attractive talent, and technology-led innovation.

For service providers, the necessity is to engage more deeply and adaptively, which requires investing in specialized talent, establishing a forward-looking value proposition, and modifying operational frameworks, ultimately evolving into lifecycle partners that deliver quantifiable business outcomes, the report emphasized.
