New Delhi, Feb 23 (NationPress) The government revealed on Monday that the cumulative revenue generated from the scrap sale in the Swachhata campaign from 2021 through January 2026 has reached Rs 4,405.28 crore.

In the period from December 2025 to January 2026, the revenue from scrap disposal amounted to Rs 200.21 crore, with a total of 81,322 lakh files eliminated in the Swachhata campaign across 5,188 offices during January, as per the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

The latest edition of ‘Secretariat Reforms’ presents a thorough evaluation of the current efforts aimed at enhancing governance and administration.

As stated in the report, successful cleanliness campaigns took place at 5,188 locations throughout the country in January. Around 4.34 lakh sq ft of office space was cleared, with the Ministry of Coal contributing 1,88,687 sq ft and the Ministry of Heavy Industries contributing 62,129 sq ft, among others.

In the previous month, Rs 115.85 crore was generated from scrap disposal, significantly aided by contributions from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Heavy Industry, and Ministry of Coal.

“Efficient record management led to the review of 1,82,000 physical files, resulting in the elimination of 81,322 files. Additionally, 5,57,852 public grievances were disposed of, accounting for 90.41 percent of the total, alongside 1,032 MP references and 375 state government references,” the report highlighted.

Furthermore, the implementation of delayering initiatives has effectively reduced the average distinct transaction levels for active files from 7.19 in 2021 to 4.31 as of January 2026.

As of January 2026, approximately 93.81 percent of all files created are e-Files. Nearly 95.29 percent of the receipts received were e-Receipts, with 65 Ministries/Departments achieving at least 90 percent e-File adoption at impressive rates.

Fifteen Ministries/Departments have achieved a 100 percent share of e-Receipts for January 26.

“Inter-ministerial file transfers totaled 4,752 files for January 2026, reflecting streamlined administrative processes,” stated the report, which emphasizes the government's ongoing dedication to digitally empowered, transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric governance.
