Hyundai and Kia Experience a 10.5% Decline in November Sales in Europe

Seoul, Dec 19 (NationPress) The total vehicle sales of prominent South Korean manufacturers Hyundai Motor and Kia in Europe experienced a downturn of 10.5 percent in November compared to the same month last year, according to industry data released on Thursday.
Data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) indicated that Hyundai and Kia together sold 79,744 units in Europe last month.
ACEA's information revealed that Hyundai Motor's sales decreased by 12.5 percent year-on-year to 39,592 units, while Kia's sales fell by 8.4 percent to 40,152 units.
In the period from January to November, the South Korean automakers reported a total of 984,541 units sold combined in Europe, marking a 4.4 percent decline compared to the same timeframe last year, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
For the eleven-month period, the combined market share of Hyundai and Kia in Europe was recorded at 8.3 percent, which is a decrease of 0.4 percentage points from the prior year.
In other news, Hyundai Motor recently introduced the Ioniq 9, its inaugural large electric SUV, at the Los Angeles Auto Show, alongside over 40 other models.
The Ioniq 9 is expected to make its debut in early 2025, starting in South Korea, followed by launches in the United States, Europe, and additional regions. For the U.S. market, this vehicle will be produced at the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, the company’s dedicated EV facility in Georgia.
It features a roomy and lounge-like interior capable of seating up to seven passengers, along with a sleek aerosthetic exterior design that embodies the company's dedication to merging aerodynamic advancements with sophisticated, futuristic aesthetics, as stated by the company.
Additionally, Hyundai presented the Initium, a concept vehicle for a hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), marking its first appearance in North America.
This concept model offers insights into the design and future direction of Hyundai's passenger FCEV, which is slated for release in the first half of 2025.
