New Delhi, Jan 1 (NationPress) Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) disclosed on Wednesday that it has achieved its highest-ever yearly domestic sales of 605,433 units in 2024.

The total sales for the company, which includes both domestic and export figures, amounted to 764,119 units last year.

During December, HMIL reported total monthly sales of 55,078 units, which included 42,208 units for domestic sales and 12,870 units for exports.

As per Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer of HMIL, the company maintained its sales momentum throughout 2024, despite facing significant challenges within the industry.

“The launch of the cutting-edge Hy-CNG Duo technology in 2024 was well received by consumers, leading to an unprecedented CNG contribution of 13.1 percent to HMIL’s domestic sales this year, compared to 10.4 percent in 2023,” Garg stated.

The Hyundai Creta model, with a record-breaking 186,919 units sold, has solidified the company's status as a leader in the SUV market.

“We are optimistic that the upcoming CRETA Electric will further widen the appeal of this Unmatched Ultimate SUV,” Garg added.

In a related note, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd announced its overall auto sales for December reached 69,768 vehicles, reflecting a growth of 16 percent, including exports.

In the SUV category, Mahindra recorded 41,424 units sold in the domestic market, representing an 18 percent increase, with an overall total of 42,958 vehicles including exports.

The domestic sales for commercial vehicles were reported at 19,502 units.

“The year concluded on a positive note, as we became the only Indian automotive company to achieve the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) world leader status in our sector,” remarked Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd.

The DJSI ranking is one of the most esteemed global benchmarks for ESG performance, covering over 13,000 companies across various industries, and “we are ranked first among all global auto original equipment manufacturers (OEMs),” he added.
