Seoul/New Delhi, April 24 (NationPress) Hyundai Motor Group announced on Thursday a collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to inaugurate a cutting-edge research centre in India. This initiative aims to propel advancements in future mobility technologies, particularly in electrification and battery systems.
As part of the partnership agreement signed on Wednesday, both entities will create the Hyundai Center of Excellence, which will act as a focal point for collaborative research initiatives framed within a long-term academic-industry cooperation structure.
Together, Hyundai Motor and Kia aim to allocate approximately 5 billion won ($3.5 million) over the next two years to foster research in future mobility technologies at this centre, according to reports from Yonhap news agency.
The group has pinpointed nine collaborative projects with IIT Delhi, addressing various domains including battery cells, battery management systems, safety, durability, and diagnostic technologies.
Additionally, the centre will investigate new materials and components to further refine battery design and performance.
An official signing ceremony for the partnership agreement took place in New Delhi, with attendance from Yang Heui-won, president and head of Hyundai's research and development division, and IIT Delhi Director Rangan Banerjee, among others.

Recently, Hyundai Motor India celebrated 25 years of exports from India, solidifying its position as the leading exporter in this sector. Since it began exports in 1999, the company has delivered over 3.7 million (37 lakh) vehicles worldwide, as noted in a statement.
The company's export statistics reflect the success of India’s initiative for self-sufficient and globally competitive automobile manufacturing. Over the years, Hyundai has broadened its global footprint, exporting vehicles to more than 150 countries.
