New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) Esteemed global experts and top corporations convened in the heart of India for the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’, engaging in discussions focused on the future of artificial intelligence and its transformative capabilities across various sectors.
In an interview with IANS, Geraint Rees, Vice-Provost (Research, Innovation and Global Engagement) at University College London, expressed admiration for the scale and enthusiasm surrounding the summit.
He revealed that UCL has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tech Mahindra.
“This collaboration is designed to enhance research and innovation while providing students with opportunities to tackle real-world business challenges,” he emphasized.
Rees highlighted that this is an exhilarating period for India-UK relations, pointing out India's emergence as a dynamic and entrepreneurial economy.
He underscored the country’s increasing aspirations in fields including AI, advanced medicine, robotics, and space.
From the Switzerland Pavilion, Dr. Lina Robra mentioned her country’s commitment to promoting AI grounded in transparency and openness.
She introduced the Swiss AI initiative’s open-source large language model known as ‘Apertus’, which is crafted to ensure transparency in both data and model operations. The primary goal, she stated, is to foster responsible and ethical AI usage in the public interest.
Additionally, Estelle David, Trade and Investment Commissioner of France, expressed France's enthusiasm for participating in the summit.
She noted that France has established its largest-ever national pavilion at the event, showcasing approximately 30 French AI companies.
Moreover, nearly 120 French companies are visiting India this week, further solidifying the India-France partnership.
Jungo Okai from Fujitsu reported that the company has showcased advanced AI software alongside quantum computing and supercomputing technologies at the summit.
He explained that quantum computing, differing fundamentally from traditional computing, holds the promise of transforming simulation, optimization, and scientific discovery.
Okai further added that as India’s economy continues to expand rapidly, robust data centers and home-grown computing capabilities will be essential to fully leverage AI’s potential.
Maz Ansari, co-founder of Oriserve, shared that his firm has been enhancing the automation of conversations between brands and customers for the past seven years.
He elaborated that their technology guarantees instant and accurate responses and can comprehend various Indian dialects.
This innovation will empower individuals in rural and remote regions to access banking and other essential services via phone without needing to visit a physical branch.
