The 'BIOFACH Germany 2026', recognized as the premier trade fair for organic goods, took place in Nuremberg. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) spearheaded India's involvement, showcasing the nation's rich agricultural history and its emerging role as a dependable global provider of organic goods.
“Visitors from the trade are gaining insights into Indian organic offerings, innovative value creation models, and potential partnership openings,” the Commerce Ministry stated.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal emphasized India's standing as one of the foremost producers of organic products worldwide.
He pointed out significant revisions made to India's organic regulation, the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), which bolster the integrity of India's organic framework.
Agrawal also highlighted the synergies between India and the European Union, showcasing their collective demographic and economic heft.
In light of the successful conclusion of negotiations regarding the India–European Union Free Trade Agreement, he noted that this accord would bolster bilateral trade and investment relations, fortify resilient supply chains, and nurture sustainable growth.
He urged for the prompt finalization of the Mutual Recognition Agreement on organics between India and the European Union to further amplify organic commerce.
The India Pavilion spans an impressive 1,074 square meters and features 67 co-exhibitors, including exporters of organic products, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperatives, organic certification and testing labs, state government entities, and commodity boards.
As per the ministry, the pavilion displays a diverse array of organic offerings such as rice, oilseeds, herbs, spices, pulses, cashews, ginger, turmeric, large cardamom, cinnamon, mango puree, essential oils, tea, coffee, and millets.
Remarkably, exhibitors from over 20 states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, are participating in the exhibition, promoting region-specific organic produce and value-added products.
