India and Delaware Forge Promising Biotechnology Partnership: Insights from Dr. Jitendra Singh

New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) The partnership between India and Delaware, USA, holds significant potential to foster advancements in biotechnology and advanced manufacturing, according to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh. During a meeting at Seva Teerth, the focus was on enhancing collaboration in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, clean energy, and innovation-led industrial growth.
“Science, technology, and biotechnology are fundamental components of the comprehensive strategic alliance between India and the US,” remarked Dr. Singh.
“India recognizes the immense potential for deeper interactions with US states that possess robust innovation ecosystems,” he added.
Dr. Singh highlighted India’s escalating influence in the sectors of biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation, stating that the country has developed strong capabilities that span from research and development to large-scale and economical manufacturing.
He emphasized India's integrated innovation system that links government, academia, industry, and startups.
“The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is pivotal in driving industrial research, with 37 laboratories and over 7,500 scientists,” Dr. Singh asserted.
“CSIR has significantly contributed to national endeavors in areas such as Green Hydrogen, Quantum Technologies, biosciences, and biopharma, in addition to process development for essential medicines,” he elaborated.
The minister put forth the idea of forming a dedicated working group to transform discussions into tangible actions in joint research, manufacturing collaborations, and startup partnerships.
He proposed specific fields for cooperation, including the establishment of joint advanced biomanufacturing platforms, research connections between Indian institutions and Delaware research centers, startup incubation initiatives, and training programs in good manufacturing practices, regulatory science, and quality systems.
Dr. Singh also pointed out that the Ministry of Science and Technology supports approximately 150 incubators throughout India, and the government has allocated a Rs 1 lakh crore fund for research, development, and innovation to encourage private-sector and deep-tech investments.
“These initiatives could significantly strengthen ties with Delaware’s research and manufacturing ecosystem,” he stated.
Governor Matt Meyer characterized Delaware as a state with a rich scientific and industrial heritage, highlighting its bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities, expanding port facilities, and a favorable business climate.
Members of the US delegation engaged in discussions on collaboration in areas such as clean hydrogen, workforce development, startup incubation, and corporate structures.
