New Delhi, Feb 24 (NationPress) India is set to host the 12th Regional 3R and Circular Economy Forum in Asia and the Pacific in Jaipur from March 3-5, as announced on Monday.

This event will center around the theme “Realising Circular Societies Towards Achieving SDGs and Carbon Neutrality in Asia-Pacific”, as stated by Union Minister Manohar Lal during an event in the national capital.

The minister added that more than 500 international and domestic participants are anticipated to join this three-day conference, which will feature plenary sessions, country-specific discussions, theme-focused roundtables, and significant opportunities for knowledge-sharing and networking.

Delegates will also have the chance to participate in technical field visits to solid and liquid waste management facilities and tour prominent heritage sites in Jaipur.

As per the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, a dedicated 'India Pavilion' will highlight the country's impressive initiatives and accomplishments in the realm of the 3R and circular economy.

The pavilion will include exhibitions from key ministries and national missions, showcasing India's comprehensive approach to sustainable development.

Numerous launches of knowledge products are planned at the Forum, including a compilation of over 100 best practices curated by the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), according to the ministry.

The Forum will also present an international '3R trade and technology exhibition', offering a platform for over 40 Indian and Japanese businesses and start-ups to display practices, ideas, and solutions that promote circularity and 3R principles, while fostering cross-learning.

Manohar Lal indicated that ‘Waste-to-wealth’ initiatives by NGOs and Self-help Groups across India will be featured at the Forum, encouraging sustainability-driven entrepreneurship and community involvement.

The 12th Forum will conclude with the adoption of the 'Jaipur Declaration', aimed at facilitating the transition to a resource-efficient, circular economy within Asia-Pacific nations, which will be passed to the next host country.

The Jaipur Declaration (2025-34) builds on the Hanoi Declaration (2013-23) and intends to provide a framework for participating countries to develop policies and programs related to the 3R and circular economy, facilitating a transition from a linear ‘take-make-dispose’ economy to a circular economy.

The most recent Forum was held in Cambodia in 2023. India previously hosted the Forum in 2018, with the 8th edition taking place in Indore.
