India and Israel Forge Strategic Partnership for $500 Billion Electronics Manufacturing Future
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) In crucial discussions this week, India and Israel have prioritized technology and innovation, aligning with India's goal of establishing a $500 billion electronics manufacturing sector by 2030–31, as noted by industry analysts on Friday.
The bilateral ties have been elevated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, to a ‘Special Strategic Partnership for Peace, Innovation, and Prosperity’. This move showcases the profound trust and mutual economic and technological aspirations shared by both nations.
This visit led to the endorsement of 17 bilateral agreements, MoUs, and declarations across multiple sectors including manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, digital payments, space, agriculture, education, and defence.
“India and Israel are inherently aligned partners. Israel’s exceptional expertise in AI, semiconductors, and advanced technologies complements India’s vast manufacturing potential and industrial goals,” commented Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).
The establishment of a Special Strategic Partnership lays a solid foundation for enhancing technological collaboration, he added.
Globally, Israel is acknowledged for its expertise in AI, semiconductor design, embedded systems, cybersecurity, and advanced technologies. Over the last decade, India has emerged as the world's second-largest mobile phone producer, with its electronics production soaring from $31.4 billion in 2014 to over $133 billion in 2024–25.
Through effective policy initiatives such as the Production-Linked Incentive schemes and the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), India has gained scale, capability, and global recognition in electronics manufacturing.
Newly established frameworks, including collaborations in Critical and Emerging Technologies, the Tech-Gateway Initiative, and joint efforts in Artificial Intelligence, offer structured avenues for collaborative R&D, design partnerships, technology validation, and scaling manufacturing processes.
“Collectively, these initiatives establish an institutional structure of unparalleled depth and scope for India-Israel technology collaboration. This will significantly fast-track India’s evolution into a design-led, deep-tech manufacturing powerhouse,” stated ICEA.
