New Delhi, Sep 3 (NationPress) India is poised to harness the potential for developing over 106 million square feet of real estate within key transit hubs, including Metro stations, train stations, and inter-state bus terminals, across the nation's eight largest cities, according to a recent report released on Wednesday.

The Delhi-NCR area showcases the most significant opportunity for transit-oriented real estate development, estimated at 32 million square feet, as stated by CBRE, a prominent real estate consulting firm.

This considerable capacity is driven by the ongoing expansion of the Metro system, ISBTs, and urban railway stations in the region.

Mumbai ranks second with a potential of 20 million square feet, while Chennai is projected to offer around 13 million square feet, as detailed in the report.

Other major cities such as Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune are also experiencing real estate activities linked to transit-oriented development (TOD), albeit on varying scales, as mass transit networks continue to grow.
