New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) The first ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chip is anticipated to commence production this year, stated Union Minister for Railways and Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw.

India is making remarkable strides in semiconductor manufacturing, with five production units being built simultaneously. The initial ‘Made in India’ chip is projected to be launched by 2025.

While addressing the ‘Global Investors Summit 2025’ in Bhopal through video conferencing, the minister praised technology firm HLBS for its new facility as well as a forthcoming cutting-edge manufacturing and R&D center located in the city’s IT Park.

The recently inaugurated HLBS IT campus covers 1 lakh square feet and boasts advanced facilities to produce IT hardware and electronic goods under one roof.

This facility will manufacture servers, desktops, motherboards, chassis, RAM, SSDs, drones, and robots, among various other comprehensive electronic components.

Vaishnaw recognized the vital contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, asserting that under PM Modi’s leadership, electronic manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh has gained substantial momentum.

Two electronic manufacturing clusters have received approval from PM Modi, one located in Bhopal and another in Jabalpur. Presently, 85 companies are actively involved in the electronics manufacturing sector in the region.

The Union Minister also emphasized the government's dedication to technological progress by announcing the training of 20,000 engineers under the Future Skills Programme in Madhya Pradesh.

To further enhance the talent pipeline, the government has initiated a program to educate 85,000 engineers in advanced semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.

Over the last decade, the electronics manufacturing sector has experienced unprecedented growth, reaching a valuation of Rs 10 lakh crore. India is currently exporting electronics valued at Rs 5 lakh crore, which includes mobile devices (Rs 4 lakh crore), laptops, servers, telecom equipment (Rs 75,000 crore), and defense and medical electronics.

Vaishnaw stated that the government's steadfast commitment has elevated India’s electronics manufacturing industry to remarkable heights.
