This rise has positioned India as the third highest in the world for billionaire count, following the United States and China.
The wealth of Indian billionaires has escalated by 10 percent year-on-year, reaching Rs 112.6 trillion, with 199 individuals witnessing an uptick in their financial status.
Conversely, 109 billionaires either saw a decrease in their wealth or experienced no change. Women constitute 7 percent of India's billionaire demographic.
The Hurun report highlights that India's billionaire landscape is diversifying beyond traditional sectors, illustrating a wide-ranging economic growth across various industries.
The healthcare sector has been the most prolific in producing new billionaires, with 53 entrants, trailed by industrial products with 36 and consumer goods with 31 newcomers.
Despite fewer new entries, the energy sector holds the largest portion of wealth, generating Rs 18.3 trillion among just eight billionaires, which represents approximately 16 percent of India's total billionaire wealth.
While Mumbai remains the leading city for billionaires in India with 95 billionaires, it has lost its title as Asia's billionaire capital to Shenzhen, which now claims 133 billionaires. Mumbai added 15 new billionaires, surpassing the increases seen in New York City (14) and London (9).
On a global scale, New York tops the list of billionaire cities with 146 billionaires, followed by Shanghai with 120, Beijing with 107, and London with 102.
According to the report, Indian billionaires are generally older than the global average, with an average age of 67 compared to the global average of 65.
Moreover, 23 Indian women billionaires collectively possess a wealth of Rs 9.8 trillion, as stated in the report.
