New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) The number of billionaires in India has increased to 284, with their total wealth amounting to an incredible Rs 98 lakh crore, according to a recent report released on Thursday.

The ‘Hurun Global Rich List for 2025’ indicates that these affluent individuals in the country have experienced a 10 percent increase in their overall wealth in the past year. Notably, Mumbai alone boasts 90 billionaires.

India continues to hold a strong position globally, ranking third in terms of billionaire count, following the United States and China. The United States leads with 870 billionaires.

The Hurun report reveals that 175 Indian billionaires have seen their fortunes grow, while 109 have either faced a decline or maintained their wealth.

The average net worth of an Indian billionaire now amounts to Rs 34,514 crore. Furthermore, India is home to seven billionaires under the age of 40, primarily hailing from Bengaluru and Mumbai.

On the international scale, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, achieved the largest wealth increase, amassing an additional $189 billion over the previous year. He has maintained his position as the world’s richest individual for the fourth time in five years, becoming the first person to exceed the $400 billion mark.
