New Delhi, Oct 11 (NationPress) The budget airline IndiGo has officially declared that it will commence daily direct flights linking New Delhi with Guangzhou in China starting from November 10.
The service will be operated using IndiGo's Airbus A320 aircraft.
IndiGo is among the pioneering airlines to reinstate operations between India and China, having previously announced daily flights from Kolkata to Guangzhou commencing on October 26.
The Delhi flight is slated to leave at 9:45 PM and reach Guangzhou by 4:40 AM. The return journey will leave Guangzhou at 5:50 AM and arrive back in Delhi at 10:10 AM.
Tickets for this new route are currently available for purchase on the IndiGo website.
Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed, “We are excited to strengthen our connectivity to China with these daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, complementing the recently resumed route from Kolkata. The revival of operations between two of the globe’s most populous nations unlocks vast opportunities for cultural exchange and economic collaboration.”
This initiative allows IndiGo to integrate China into its extensive domestic and expanding international network through Guangzhou.
Malhotra added, “We believe this will enhance prospects in trade, investment, tourism, and education between both nations, while reaffirming our dedication to connect India to the global arena.”
This announcement follows confirmation from the Ministry of External Affairs regarding the resumption of direct flights between specified cities starting this month. Direct passenger flights between India and China have been suspended since 2020, despite China being India's largest bilateral trade partner.
Experts in aviation and trade anticipate that the revival of flights will enhance connectivity for businesses on both sides and foster cultural and tourism exchanges, indicating a gradual easing of tensions between New Delhi and Beijing.
Earlier today, IndiGo also announced a new daily direct service from Delhi to Hanoi, set to launch on December 20, 2025, utilizing its Airbus A320 aircraft for seamless connectivity to one of Southeast Asia's most energetic cultural and business centers.
