IndiGo Launches Non-Stop Kolkata-Shanghai Flights

New Delhi, March 30 (NationPress) In a significant move, IndiGo, the leading airline in India, has officially unveiled its daily non-stop flights connecting Kolkata and Shanghai, enhancing the air travel link between India and China.
This new route represents a pivotal step in IndiGo's international growth strategy and complements the recent reinstatement of services to Guangzhou from both Kolkata and Delhi.
The flights on the Kolkata-Shanghai route will be operated using Airbus A320neo aircraft.
With Shanghai now on the itinerary, IndiGo aims to broaden travel opportunities for both business and leisure travelers, responding to the rising demand for economic and tourism ties between the two nations. Passengers from various Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar, will have seamless connections to Shanghai through Kolkata.
According to Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, this route is set to enhance ties between India and China and foster both commercial and cultural exchanges.
As of now, IndiGo operates 21 weekly flights to mainland China, which includes services to Guangzhou from both Kolkata and Delhi.
The flight schedule indicates that flight 6E 1709 will leave Kolkata at 9:45 PM, arriving in Shanghai at 4:40 AM the following day. The return flight, 6E 1710, is scheduled to depart Shanghai at 5:40 AM and reach Kolkata by 9:05 AM.
Shares of IndiGo’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation Ltd, were trading at Rs 4,010.30 on the BSE, reflecting a decline of approximately 2% from the previous day’s close.
Previously, IndiGo had announced the launch of over 30 new routes from Navi Mumbai International Airport between March 29 and April 23, expanding its connectivity to cities like Agra, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Belgaum, Chandigarh, Diu, Kannur, Kolkata, Patna, Rajkot, Srinagar, Varanasi, and Visakhapatnam. With these additions, IndiGo aims to facilitate over 400 weekly departures from Navi Mumbai, boosting regional connectivity.
